Discovery of the Reincarnation of Ven. Gyalpo Rinpoche
Ven. the 2nd Gyalpo Rinpoche was reborn in 1978, in a family of Chumje Labrang, in the village of Chumje in Gorkha district, Nepal. His mother died when he was only nine days old. He was raised by Ani Jangchub till he was recognized as Ven. the 2nd Gyalpo Rinpoche. As a young child, he often told stories about the previous Gyalpo Rinpoche but the people in his village could not understand what he was referring to.

"Karma Samten Ling"

|
In gratitude and with respect for the name Karma Samten Chokhor Ling granted by H. H. the 16th Karmapa to the main Monastery in Manang, and similarly to H.E. the 3rd Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche who named Karma Samten Ling, the original Retreat Centre in Kathmandu, and because it is especially auspicious, Ven. Gyalpo Rinpoche has decided that Monasteries and Centres under his guidance will keep Karma Samten Ling as their names.

Seeking and Recognising Ven. the 2nd Gyalpo Rinpoche
Wondrous stories about this young child spread in the community of Chumje and soon after in Manang too. At the same time, the sons and close disciples of the previous Gyalpo Rinpoche were searching for his reincarnation. They went to Chumje to visit the young child and were deeply impressed and touched. Finally, in 1984, H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche and other great masters confirmed him as the reincarnation of Ven. Gyalpo Rinpoche.
In the same year, Rinpoche was enthroned and given the name, Karma Lungtok Tenpe Nyima at the holy seat of Dilyak Monastery in Boudhanath by H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche. Ven. Dabsang Rinpoche and many other Rinpoches and Lamas attended the ceremony.

Great Masters and Teachers
Ven. Dabsang Rinpoche has generously and kindly hosted the young Gyalpo Rinpoche at his Monastery until proper accommodations could be completed at the Karma Samten Ling Retreat Centre, near Swayambu. Ven. Dabsang Rinpoche gave all the empowerments and teachings for the first Three Year Mahamudra Retreat at that Centre, which young Gyalpo Rinpoche was able to receive completely even though he was still too young to accomplish the three year retreat formally. Since then, Rinpoche started his monastic education and training under the guidance of Lama Phuntsok and Lama Gyaltsen.
