Lama Gyaltsen - The General Secretary Lama Gyaltsen became ordained in 1974, at Seri Karma Raja Maha Vihar Monastery, Swayambunath, Kathmandu, under the auspices of Ven. Dabsang Rinpoche and Sachu Rinpoche. He studied in that Monastery where he completed his monastic education. In 1975, when H.H.16th Karmapa visited Nepal, he took full ordination from His Holiness and received the Kagyu Ngag Dzod empowerments. The following year he was appointed as Vice Secretary of that Monastery by H.H. the 16th Karmapa for one year. His service to the Monastery was extremely valuable. In 1979, following the request of the Manang community as well as the command of H.H. the 16th Karmapa, Lama Gyaltsen went to Karma Drubgyud Chokhor Ling Monastery, Matopani, Pokhara, Nepal, established by the previous Gyalpo Rinpoche. He was able to restore the Monastery building and its contents and instituted an ordained Sangha. In 1984, since Ven. the 2nd Gyalpo Rinpoche was enthroned, he has been in service of Rinpoche as a General Secretary. His many functions include looking after the overall activities and management of Rinpoche's monasteries. Lama Gyaltsen travels to different countries from time to time, accompanying Gyalpo Rinpoche, to assist his Dharma activities. Lama Gyaltsen has great expertise in building stupas and traditional Tibetan monasteries; his knowledge and technique over the past years have been truly invaluable. In many different areas, his contribution has been of great value to the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
