In preparation for the opening of the Monastery, Rinpoche and the Lamas performed a ten day puja. On the first 7 days, the Chenrezig puja was held, followed by three days of Mahakala puja which culminated with the Mahakala sacred dances on the 11th day. The villagers and visitors were delighted and overwhelmed since it was the first time such grand sacred Mahakala dance was performed. On this auspicious occasion, 20 mother yaks and their 20 calves were released as part of the Tshe Thar ritual (Release of living beings). Rice and medicine were also distributed to all the villagers as a practice of generosity.
