Introduction
Karma Samten Ling Monastery, Manang (previously known as Karma Samten Chokhor Ling Monastery)
founded by Ven. the 1st Gaylpo Rinpoche, is situated in Bordoche, in Ngawal Village of Manang.
    Annapura Valley
Manang, 3,500 metres above sea level, is located in the Annapura Valley of the Himalayas.  The majority of
its inhabitants are Buddhists.   Villages sparsely dot the valley and although each one has its own
monastery, Karma Samten Ling Monastery is the only one to house a resident Sangha and offer daily
    monastic education.
Deer Hunter Cave Where Milarepa Practised
The Monastery faces the famous Deer Hunter Cave where the great meditation master Milarepa practiced
and liberated the hunter, Khyira Gompo Dorje, his hunting dog and a deer.  Until today, it is still possible to
see the relics of his achievements, the deer footprint, Milarepa's body imprint in the rock, etc.  These are
the remarkable signs that the great master Milarepa realized the inseparability of emptiness and
conventional reality, and that he left as his legacy for future generation to inspire their practice.  This is
where Ven. the 1st Gyalpo Rinpoche started disseminating Buddhadharma.
