Very often, people attribute and blame their own faults and misdeeds on other people and factors. Whenever they suffer hardships and encounter obstacles, they would usually turn to monasteries or temples for some obstacle removal objects. Nevertheless, bad luck continues to tangle, those are the ‘causes’ of their ‘bad karma’. If we do not remove or purify these ‘causes of bad karma’, those afflictions, miseries and impediments would persist. Therefore, our Centre has organizing a retreat programme with an aim of purifying our bad karmas. The Retreat was conducted by Lama Sonam and Khenpo Kunga of Karma Samten Ling (H.K.) Buddhist Centre.
During the course of the retreat, participants has to take vow and abide by the eight Mahayana Precepts of no killing; no stealing; no sexual misconduct; no lying; no intoxicants; no sleeping on high or luxurious bed; no luxurious clothings, no cosmetic make up, ornaments, entertainment; and no eating at forbidden hours.
The one and a half day retreat programme focuses mainly on prayers; prostrations; meditations; dharma talks given by lamas; and fasting practice after the lunch of the second day, only were only allowed to drink water or clear liquid.
